In a written reply in the <a ref=\"dofollow\" data-ga-onclick=\"Inarticle articleshow link click#News#href\" href=\"https:\/\/economictimes.indiatimes.com\/topic\/rajya-sabha\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Rajya Sabha<\/a>, <a ref=\"dofollow\" data-ga-onclick=\"Inarticle articleshow link click#News#href\" href=\"https:\/\/economictimes.indiatimes.com\/topic\/union-law-minister-arjun-ram-meghwal\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Union Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal<\/a> said while more than 4.87 crore cases were pending as on December 31, 2022, the figure stood at 5.20 crore on February 7. <\/p>\n<p>He said disposal of pending cases in a time-bound manner was within the exclusive domain of the <a ref=\"dofollow\" data-ga-onclick=\"Inarticle articleshow link click#News#href\" href=\"https:\/\/economictimes.indiatimes.com\/topic\/judiciary\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">judiciary<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;However, the government is committed towards facilitating an ecosystem for expeditious disposal of cases by the judiciary and reducing pendency, as mandated under Article 21 of the Constitution.
