It will enable the government to identify where the tribals have still not got land rights. The <a ref=\"dofollow\" data-ga-onclick=\"Inarticle articleshow link click#News#href\" href=\"https:\/\/economictimes.indiatimes.com\/topic\/tribal-affairs-ministry\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">tribal affairs ministry<\/a> has asked 21 states and union territories, which are implementing <a ref=\"dofollow\" data-ga-onclick=\"Inarticle articleshow link click#News#href\" href=\"https:\/\/economictimes.indiatimes.com\/topic\/forest-rights-act-2006\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Forest Rights Act 2006<\/a>, to initiate a detailed exercise at the ground level. A senior ministry official, who did not wish to be identified, told ET, &#8220;A tribal atlas of a state will help the state government and the Centre to clearly identify the areas where land right claims can be saturated.&#8221; <\/p>\n<p>The exercise has been initiated because of the <a ref=\"dofollow\" data-ga-onclick=\"Inarticle articleshow link click#News#href\" href=\"https:\/\/economictimes.indiatimes.com\/topic\/pendency-of-forest-rights-claims\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">pendency of forest rights claims<\/a> with the state governments. As per ministry data, land rights or pattas have been given in less than half the cases where claims have been received. As of February 1, land rights have been given to 48.95% of the claimants, while 36.43% of the claims have been rejected.
