NEW DELHI: Virat Kohli<\/a> once again proved why he is regarded as one of the greatest modern-day cricketers, guiding India to a six-wicket victory over Pakistan in Dubai with an unbeaten century. His 100 off 111 balls not only secured India’s win but also reinforced his reputation as a player who thrives in high-pressure situations.
Australian legend Ricky Ponting<\/a>, speaking on The ICC Review, lauded Kohli\u2019s ability to step up in crucial moments, describing the innings as a testament to his temperament and match-winning prowess.

“I’ve always said big games equal big names. You need your big names to stand up in those big moments, and no bigger game for India than a game against Pakistan,” Ponting said.
Ponting drew comparisons to Kohli\u2019s iconic knock in the 2022 ICC Men\u2019s T20 World Cup against Pakistan, where he played a similarly crucial role in India\u2019s victory. <\/p>\n

“Yeah, as you say, 2022 and now, he stood up against the team that he would probably steel himself the most to play against,” Ponting remarked. “And once again, it was Kohli to get the job done.”
Pakistan, batting first, posted 241 in 49.4 overs but failed to capitalise on starts. Saud Shakeel (62), Mohammad Rizwan (46), and Khushdil Shah (38) all made contributions, but none played a defining innings.
“You look at the two scorecards \u2014 it\u2019s one, Virat making a 100, and lots of Pakistan starts without anyone going on and making a big score,” Ponting pointed out.
Chasing 242, India lost early wickets, but Kohli\u2019s composed innings, along with Shreyas Iyer\u2019s 56, ensured India reached the target comfortably. His performance further cemented his legacy as one of the greatest ODI batters of all time.<\/div>\n
