India strongly criticised Pakistan at the 58th Session of the United Nations Human Rights Council<\/a> (UNHRC) on Thursday, labelling it a “failed state” that “thrives on instability and survives on international handouts.” Indian diplomat Kshitij Tyagi delivered a sharp rebuttal, accusing Pakistan of spreading falsehoods and misusing international platforms to push an anti-India narrative.<\/p>\n

Scathing Remarks Against Pakistan<\/h2>\n

Tyagi did not mince words, asserting that Pakistan had made a “mockery of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation<\/a> (OIC) by abusing it as its mouthpiece.” He condemned Pakistan’s continuous attempts to mislead the global community, calling its governance “incompetent” and its rhetoric “hypocritical.”<\/p>\n

“It is regrettable to see Pakistan’s leaders and delegates continuing to spread falsehoods handed down by its military-terrorist complex. Pakistan is making a mockery of the OIC by abusing it as its mouthpiece. It is unfortunate that this Council’s time continues to be wasted by a failed state which thrives on instability and survives on international handouts. Its rhetoric reeks of hypocrisy, its actions of inhumanity, and its governance of incompetence. India remains focused on democracy, progress, and ensuring dignity for its people. Values that Pakistan would do well to learn from,” Tyagi stated.<\/p>\n

Kashmir is Integral to India, Says India<\/h2>\n

Responding to Pakistan\u2019s repeated references to Jammu & Kashmir, Tyagi reaffirmed India’s position, stating that Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh would always remain integral parts of the country. He highlighted the significant political, social, and economic advancements in these regions over recent years, contrasting them with Pakistan’s instability.<\/p>\n

“The Union Territories of J&K and Ladakh will always remain an integral and inalienable part of India. The unprecedented political, social, and economic progress in J&K in the past few years speaks for itself. These successes are a testament to the people’s trust in the government’s commitment to bring normalcy to a region scarred by decades of Pakistan-sponsored terrorism,” he said.<\/p>\n

Pakistan\u2019s Human Rights Record Under Scrutiny<\/h2>\n

India also called out Pakistan for its own human rights violations. Tyagi pointed to Pakistan’s record of minority persecution, democratic backsliding, and sheltering of UN-sanctioned terrorists.”As a country where human rights abuses, persecution of minorities, and systematic erosion of democratic values constitute state policies, and which brazenly harbours UN-sanctioned terrorists, Pakistan is in no position to lecture anyone,” he asserted.<\/p>\n

A Call for Pakistan to Address Its Own Problems<\/h2>\n

Tyagi urged Pakistan to shift its focus from India to its own internal governance failures. He criticised Islamabad for using international platforms to deflect attention from its domestic crises.<\/p>\n

“Instead of its unhealthy obsession with India, Pakistan should focus on providing actual governance and justice to its own people,” he said.<\/p>\n

India\u2019s Consistent Stand at International Forums<\/h2>\n

Tyagi\u2019s remarks reflect India’s long-standing position on the Kashmir issue. On 19 February, India\u2019s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Parvathaneni Harish, reaffirmed India\u2019s sovereignty over Jammu and Kashmir during an Open Debate at the UN Security Council.<\/p>\n

“The Deputy PM and Foreign Minister of Pakistan have referred to an integral and inalienable part of India, the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, in his remarks. I would like to reaffirm that the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir has been, is, and will always be, an integral and inalienable part of India,” Harish stated.<\/p>\n

India has repeatedly rebuked Pakistan\u2019s attempts to internationalise the Kashmir issue, maintaining that the region\u2019s progress speaks for itself.
