Manav Sharma<\/a>, a Senior Process Associate at Tata Consultancy Services<\/a> (TCS), allegedly died by suicide in Agra on 24 February 2025. A live video recorded before his death surfaced, in which he blamed his wife, Niketa, for pushing him towards the drastic step. His family has accused her of harassment and making divorce difficult for him.<\/p>\n

Family Alleges Provocation and Threats<\/h2>\n

Speaking to ANI, Manav\u2019s sister, Akanksha Sharma, claimed that her brother was under immense stress due to his failing marriage and the legal hurdles surrounding their divorce. “He was afraid that his wife wouldn’t give him divorce easily,” she said.<\/p>\n

She further alleged that Manav was threatened with consequences if he proceeded with the divorce. \u201cHe didn\u2019t die due to Niketa\u2019s affairs, but he was made to realise divorce is not easy. All laws are in favour of women,\u201d she told India Today.<\/p>\n

Attempts to Reconcile and Legal Struggles<\/h2>\n

According to Akanksha, a woman named Priya had informed Manav about Niketa and her two sisters allegedly trapping married men and ruining their lives. Following this, Manav had attempted suicide in January but was saved when his parents rushed to Mumbai to intervene.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was mutually decided that they would file for divorce,\u201d Akanksha said. However, she claimed that when Manav tried to separate, he was threatened that the legal system favoured women, and he and his family would suffer if he pursued the divorce. A day before his death, Manav reportedly told his father that Niketa had hinted at a prolonged legal battle.<\/p>\n

Allegations and Counterclaims<\/h2>\n

Niketa has claimed that Manav was abusive towards her. However, Akanksha refuted this, describing her brother as a sensitive artist who loved painting and playing the guitar. \u201cManav was sensitive, an artist who loved painting and playing the guitar. He could never hurt anyone. How can someone who chose to end his own life be accused of hurting others?\u201d she told India Today.<\/p>\n

Police Investigation Underway<\/h2>\n

On 28 February, an FIR was filed based on a complaint by Manav\u2019s father. Agra DCP Suraj Rai said, “On 27 February 2025, through social media, a video came to our knowledge wherein a man was speaking live before dying by suicide.”Following this, a case was registered, and the police assured that all facts and allegations would be investigated thoroughly.<\/p>\n

Family\u2019s Complaint and Background of the Case<\/h2>\n

The FIR, filed by Manav\u2019s father, stated, \u201cSince the marriage, the daughter-in-law Niketa has not behaved well with the applicant’s son and other family members. She used to get furious over small things and start fighting in the house.\u201d<\/p>\n

It further alleged that while living in Mumbai, Niketa had frequent altercations with Manav and threatened to die by suicide to implicate him in a case.<\/p>\n

On 23 February, Manav and his wife had travelled from Mumbai to Agra. He had gone to her maternal home, where he was allegedly humiliated by her family. The FIR states that this pushed him further into distress. The next day, Manav died by suicide by hanging himself. His father immediately informed the police and took him to the Military Hospital in Agra, where he was declared dead.<\/p>\n

The case has drawn comparisons to that of Atul Subhash, another man who recorded a video detailing his marital struggles and frustrations with the legal system before taking his own life.<\/p>\n
