The road built privately during the ethnic conflict connects Churachandpur to Kangpokpi. It is named after German H Kuki, leader of the Kuki National Front-Military Council (KNF-MC), a militant group based in Manipur. There are roads between Churachandpur and Myanmar. Myanmar shares a border with Churachandpur.&#8221; He added, &#8220;During the violence, Kuki leaders and people often travelled to Mizoram as they could not come to Imphal owing to hostilities between the two communities. Even during the funerals, leaders from Mizoram organisations often used to visit Manipur districts.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>A second official added that this also led to a decline in intelligence gathering as no one is willing to share information due to distrust.<\/p>\n<p>The <a ref=\"dofollow\" data-ga-onclick=\"Inarticle articleshow link click#News#href\" href=\"https:\/\/economictimes.indiatimes.com\/topic\/kuki-zomi-chin-bawm-tribes\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Kuki-Zomi-Chin-Bawm tribes<\/a> in Myanmar, Bangladesh and Manipur share ethnic ties and cultural and linguistic similarities with the Mizo people.<\/p>\n<p><!--\/include_growfast.cms?pagename=article&skipcss=1potime:1--><br \/>At least 258 people have been killed and over a thousand injured in the ethnic violence between the Kuki-Zos and Meiteis since May 3, 2023.
