At least three Serbian MPs have been injured after smoke bombs and flares were thrown in the country’s parliament.<\/p>\n

Chaos erupted as politicians were scheduled to vote on a law that would increase funding for university education.<\/p>\n

But opposition parties insisted this was illegal and the parliament should first confirm the resignation of Serbia<\/a><\/strong>‘s prime minister Milos Vucevic and his government.<\/p>\n

Members of the opposition blew whistles and held up a banner reading “Serbia has risen so the regime would fall!”<\/p>\n

Video footage from the assembly hall showed a clash first between politicians, and later flares and smoke bombs being thrown. Serbian media said eggs and water bottles were also flung.<\/p>\n

Parliamentary speaker Ana Brnabic said one of the injured politicians was in a serious condition and accused the opposition of being a “terrorist gang”.<\/p>\n

The incident reflects a deep political crisis in Serbia, where months-long anti-corruption protests<\/a><\/strong> have shaken the populist government.<\/p>\n

Mr Vucevic resigned as prime minister in January as authorities faced protests over a concrete canopy collapse in November that killed 15 people. Critics blamed the collapse on rampant corruption.<\/p>\n

Parliament must confirm the prime minister’s resignation for it to take effect. Opposition parties have insisted that the government has no authority to pass new laws.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
