BRICS and the Role of the Dollar<\/h2>\n

Addressing speculation on BRICS moving away from the US dollar, Jaishankar dismissed the notion of a unified stance. \u201cI don\u2019t think there\u2019s any policy on our part to replace the dollar,\u201d he said. He explained that while economic multipolarity is a reality, the dollar remains central to global stability. He also clarified that BRICS members hold varied opinions on the matter, and India prioritises working with the US to strengthen the global financial system.<\/p>\n

India\u2019s Ties with China: A Delicate Balance<\/h2>\n

On India-China relations<\/a>, Jaishankar noted recent developments, including the reopening of the Mount Kailash pilgrimage route<\/a>. He stressed the need for mutual respect, stating, \u201cWe want a relationship where our interests are respected, sensitivities are recognised, and it works for both of us.\u201d His remarks underlined India\u2019s strategic approach to maintaining balance while securing its interests.<\/p>\n

India-US Relations and Trade Talks<\/h2>\n

Jaishankar spoke about India\u2019s growing engagement with the US, particularly in the context of a multipolar world. He acknowledged the Trump administration\u2019s approach aligning with India\u2019s interests and highlighted the significance of the Quad alliance<\/a>. \u201cThere are no free riders involved,\u201d he remarked on the grouping of India, the US, Australia, and Japan. He also confirmed ongoing discussions on a bilateral trade pact, with Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal in Washington for negotiations.<\/p>\n

Jaishankar\u2019s visit to the UK and Ireland aims to boost India\u2019s strategic partnership<\/a> with both nations.
