Eurostar trains, which connect France to Britain, Belgium and the Netherlands, <a class=\"css-yywogo\" href=\"https:\/\/www.eurostar.com\/rw-en\/travel-info\/travel-updates\/30332\" title=\"\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">were also disrupted<\/a>, stranding travelers at the station, which <a class=\"css-yywogo\" href=\"https:\/\/ressources.data.sncf.com\/explore\/dataset\/frequentation-gares\/table\/?q=Paris&amp;disjunctive.nom_gare&amp;disjunctive.code_postal\" title=\"\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">served over 226 million travelers<\/a> in 2023.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">\u201cTrains from and to Gare du Nord are halted until midafternoon at the request of the police,\u201d France\u2019s national railway company said in a <a class=\"css-yywogo\" href=\"https:\/\/www.sncf-voyageurs.com\/fr\/voyagez-avec-nous\/horaires-et-itineraires\/informations-trafic\/gl\/\" title=\"\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">travel notice<\/a> on Friday.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<aside class=\"css-ew4tgv\" aria-label=\"companion column\"\/><\/div>\n<div data-testid=\"companionColumn-1\">\n<div class=\"css-53u6y8\">\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">The type of bomb and the circumstances of its discovery were not immediately clear.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">Philippe Tabarot, France\u2019s transportation minister, <a class=\"css-yywogo\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/SudRadio\/status\/1897915552145764475\" title=\"\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">told Sud Radio<\/a> that there were \u201cno worries\u201d regarding the situation, but that the authorities were taking all necessary precautions to safely remove the bomb.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">\u201cClearing out abandoned luggage happens occasionally, but it\u2019s rather rare for bombs from World War II,\u201d Mr. Tabarot said, adding that he expected train traffic to remain disrupted throughout the day.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">It is not uncommon in Europe for construction workers to come across unexploded ordnance from the conflicts that tore the continent apart during the 20th century, but it is rarer to find them in highly populated areas.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">Last month, more than 175 practice bombs that had been used for training in the Second World War <a class=\"css-yywogo\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2025\/02\/10\/world\/europe\/wwii-bombs-playground-england.html?searchResultPosition=1\" title=\"\">were found under a children\u2019s playground<\/a> in northern England.
