Bengaluru needs 16,800 buses but faces a 10,000-bus deficit, the report highlighted.<\/p>\n<p><!--\/article_liveblog.cms?msid=105115637&pos=toppotime:1-->Providing stage carriage permits to private operators would legalize shuttle services and ridesharing for cabs and autos, thus promoting shared mobility and reducing private vehicles, the report put together by enterprise commute platform <a ref=\"dofollow\" data-ga-onclick=\"Inarticle articleshow link click#News#href\" href=\"https:\/\/economictimes.indiatimes.com\/topic\/moveinsync\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">MoveInSync<\/a>, said.<\/p>\n<p>Commuters in Bengaluru, which ranks the third most congested city in the world, lose about two hours daily in traffic and about Rs 20,000 crore a year in economic costs, the report said.<\/p>\n<p>The report is a broad compilation of ideas that poured in at the Mobility Symposium platform and Outer Ring Road Companies Association (ORRCA) jointly organized in Bengaluru in October. The event witnessed diverse stakeholders such as WRI, BPAC, Urban Morph, Bangalore Walks and corporates come together and present ideas to decongest the city.<\/p>\n<p>The report suggested eight measures to the government to decongest the city including public-private effort with global capability centres (GCCs). The city hosts about 30% of India\u2019s GCCs, but poor public transport, road conditions, and street lighting make commuting difficult, reducing productivity and increasing costs. It added that GCCs should encourage eco-friendly commuting, encourage public transport, provide cycle parking and promote car-free alternatives.<\/p>\n<div style=\"display:none;\" data-ga-impression=\"Events_widget_$pagename#Impression#url\" class=\"liveEventMain_widget custom_ad\">\n<div class=\"topContain\">\n<div class=\"imgBox\"><\/div>\n<h3 class=\"logoTitle\">Live Events<\/h3>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><!--\/live_events_widget.cms?pagename=articlepotime:2--><br \/>State\u2019s IT\/BT Minister <a ref=\"dofollow\" data-ga-onclick=\"Inarticle articleshow link click#News#href\" href=\"https:\/\/economictimes.indiatimes.com\/topic\/priyank-kharge\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Priyank Kharge<\/a> received a copy of the report from MoveInSync cofounder Deepesh Agarwal which highlighted the gross shortage of buses. \u201cThis causes overcrowding and poor coverage, forcing residents to use private vehicles, worsening traffic.
