Union Minister and Nagpur MP<\/a> Nitin Gadkari on Monday called for peace and urged people not to believe in rumours amid the ongoing violence in parts of Nagpur. The violence erupted in central Nagpur on Monday evening following rumours that a holy book of the Muslim community was burnt during a protest by a right-wing group demanding the removal of Aurangzeb\u2019s tomb.<\/p>\n

In a video message, Gadkari appealed to the people of Nagpur to maintain harmony.<\/p>\n

“Nagpur always has a history of peace. I appeal to all my brothers to maintain peace,” he said. “Do not believe rumours and do not come on roads.”<\/p>\n

The minister emphasised that the city has always upheld peace in such situations and urged citizens to support the authorities in maintaining law and order.<\/p>\n

“Due to certain rumours, a situation of religious tension has arisen in Nagpur,” he said. “The city’s history is known for maintaining peace in such matters. “Do not come out onto the streets. Cooperate with the law and order system,” he added. “Preserve the tradition of peace and harmony that Nagpur is known for.”<\/p>\n

Gadkari assured that strict action would be taken against those responsible for unlawful activities.<\/p>\n

“I assure you all that the government will take action against those who have committed mistakes or engaged in illegal activities,” he said. “The Chief Minister has already been informed about this situation.”<\/p>\n

He urged people to avoid rumours<\/a> and work together to maintain peace.<\/p>\n

“I request everyone not to pay attention to rumours. Please cooperate with the police administration,” he added. “Foster love and maintain a positive atmosphere in the city. This is my humble request to all of you.”<\/p>\n

Gadkari reassured the public that Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis is closely monitoring the situation and urged everyone to remain calm and peaceful.
