Violence broke out in central Nagpur<\/a> on Monday evening following rumours that the holy book of the Muslim community had been burnt during an agitation by a right-wing group demanding the removal of Aurangzeb\u2019s tomb. Amid the tense situation, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis<\/a> called for peace and urged people not to believe in rumours.<\/p>\n

Police and Protesters Clash<\/h2>\n

As per the latest updates, several more people were injured after clashes erupted between protesters and the police. Officials said the police responded by using tear gas shells and cane-charging to control the situation.<\/p>\n

CM Fadnavis\u2019 Appeal for Calm<\/h2>\n

Addressing the situation, CM Fadnavis assured that the police are handling the matter and managing the tensions in the Mahal area.<\/p>\n

“Police are managing the situation following stone pelting and tense situation in the Mahal area,” he said in a statement.<\/p>\n
