The revised bill comes amid rising suicides among coaching center students in the state. As per reports, seven students have died by suicide this year alone. In 2024, 17 students died by suicide, compared to 23 the previous year.<\/p>\n<p>Coaching establishments offering intensive exam preparation for IIT-JEE and NEET had opposed the Union government\u2019s January 2024 guidelines, particularly the age limit, which they claimed caused a 30-40% decline in student registrations and significant financial losses last year.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Last year, Kota alone saw a decline of nearly 40,000 students, leading to revenue losses running into hundreds of crores,&#8221; said an industry insider. &#8220;This impacted coaching centres, hostels, transport services, lifestyle businesses, and real estate.&#8221; Both the Centre\u2019s guidelines and the 2024 Rajasthan Coaching Institutes Bill had included an age limit of 16.<\/p>\n<p>State Higher Education Minister Prem Chand Bairwa acknowledged the changes from the 2024 draft, citing \u201cchanging realities.\u201d The bill awaits discussion and approval in the assembly on Friday.
