It can take half an hour or more, and that&#8217;s once you&#8217;ve managed to get an appointment.<\/p>\n<p>Dr Simon Rudland, a GP in <a href=\"https:\/\/news.sky.com\/topic\/suffolk-7293\/1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Suffolk<\/strong><\/a>, is excited about the potential to provide quick, accessible diagnosis.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Spirometry is delivered out of a hub, so patients have to travel,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We need to employ experts within those hubs that require specialist training. And the biggest issue is the wait.&#8221;<\/p>\n<div class=\"sdc-article-widget sdc-article-image\">\n<figure class=\"sdc-article-image__figure\">\n<div class=\"sdc-article-image__wrapper\" data-aspect-ratio=\"16\/9\"><\/div><figcaption class=\"ui-media-caption\">\n        <span class=\"u-hide-visually\">Image:<\/span><br \/>\n        <span class=\"ui-media-caption__caption-text\">N-Tidal Diagnose<br \/>\n        <\/span><br \/>\n      <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p>Instead, the handheld device called N-Tidal Diagnose will enable a patient to walk into their doctor&#8217;s surgery and find out in as little as five minutes if their symptoms like breathlessness and a persistent cough are caused by COPD.<\/p>\n<div class=\"sdc-article-widget sdc-article-related-stories sdc-article-related-stories--thumbnails\" data-component-name=\"sdc-article-related-stories\">\n<div class=\"sdc-article-related-stories__content\">\n<h3 class=\"sdc-article-related-stories__title\">More on Artificial Intelligence<\/h3>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>&#8220;It completely changes the whole pathway,&#8221; said Dr Rudland.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;With that diagnosis I can initiate treatment. I don&#8217;t have to wait. They don&#8217;t get put on the wrong drugs.
