Kerala\u2019s \u2018Year of Entrepreneurship\u2019 initiative has received the award for \u2018Innovation in Public Administration\u2019 from the American Society of Public Administration<\/a> (ASPA).<\/p>\n

The award, in recognition of the state\u2019s role in supporting micro, small and medium enterprises and creating over 700,000 jobs in the sector in the past three years, was presented at the policy body\u2019s annual conference in Washington, DC on Sunday.<\/p>\n

Addressing the conference, Kerala industries minister P Rajeeve<\/a> highlighted the state\u2019s model of growth, emphasising on sustainability, policy reforms, streamlined approvals and a digital-first approach to business registrations. He addressed the event virtually after being denied travel permission by the central government.<\/p>\n

\u201cNow, it takes just 10 minutes to start a venture in Kerala through an online portal, and MSMEs can operate without licensing procedures for three and a half years,\u201d the minister said.<\/p>\n

The \u2018Year of Enterprises 3.0<\/a>\u2019 initiative led by Kerala\u2019s Department of Industries aimed at establishing a million enterprises in the state in its third edition in fiscal 2024-25.<\/p>\n

Rajeeve credited the initiative\u2019s success to a collaborative approach involving government departments, R&D institutions, trade unions and financial bodies.”The Year of Enterprises was shaped through extensive brainstorming and strategic planning, engaging policymakers at all levels to create a comprehensive industrial promotion framework for Kerala,” he added.The award was received on behalf of the minister by B Suman, additional secretary at the Ministry of Tourism.<\/p>\n

Earlier, Rajeeve had taken to social media to condemn the central government for denying him and his team permission to attend the conference in person, calling it \u201cextraordinary\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cKerala has lost an opportunity to stand proudly on the world stage,\u201d he had posted.
