This season, however, has grabbed even more attention due to its shocking incest plotline, revealed in the recently released Episode 6, titled Denials. In the episode, two brothers\u2014Saxon Ratliff (Patrick Schwarzenegger) and Lochlan Ratliff (Sam Nivola)\u2014share an intimate moment with another character, Chloe (Charlotte Le Bon), leaving audiences stunned.<\/p>\n<p>Now, Patrick Schwarzenegger, son of actor and politician Arnold Schwarzenegger, has spoken about the show\u2019s daring incest plot, emphasizing that the scene isn\u2019t included merely for shock value. He explained to The Hollywood Reporter, \u201cThere\u2019s some sensationalism, but then there\u2019s also the stuff behind the wall of the character and what he\u2019s dealing with in the conflict of what just happened. What is that going to do to who he thinks he is? His thoughts on, what is it like to be a man? What is a man? What makes all these different things that he thought he stood for in the episode and the days before?\u201d<\/p>\n<p><ev-engagement group-name=\"contentLogin\"\/><ev-engagement group-name=\"myNotification\"\/><\/p>\n<div class=\"ev-meter-content ie-premium-content-block\">\n<p>Speaking about writer-director Mike White\u2019s vision for the series, Patrick added, \u201cMike does a great job with my character with that scene, but also in past seasons of always bringing something that is really fun and outrageous and sparks a conversation that gets people talking, but also has to do a lot with the pilgrimage of the characters\u2019 story and where he\u2019s going. And here, especially with the relationship Saxon has with his little brother. He said, \u201cWe really trusted Mike because there\u2019s always a very shocking, crazy, intense moment in every season. It\u2019s never just for the sake of being shocking, it always serves the story. And that [incest] scene is really the inciting incident for where our relationship goes next. It\u2019s a great storytelling tactic. Going into this, we really trusted Mike because he\u2019s a fucking badass and a genius.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>This isn\u2019t the first time Mike White has written transgressive queer characters. He wrote the character of a gay hotel manager in Season 1 who sexually harasses an employee. In Season 2, he shows a group of wealthy, dangerous gay men conspire to kill the fan-favourite character of Tanya (played by Jennifer Coolidge).<\/p>\n<p>The White Lotus Season 3 consists of eight episodes. It premiered on February 16, with the first episode airing on HBO and streaming on Max.
