While Wicked director Jon M. Chu is confirmed to lead the project and Marc Platt is on board as a producer, there\u2019s a lot more happening behind the scenes. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Insiders told Life &amp; Style that some of Hollywood\u2019s biggest young stars are battling it out for the chance to play Britney. And from what we\u2019re hearing, it\u2019s shaping up to be one of the most competitive casting races in years.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Who\u2019s in the race to play Britney Spears?\u00a0<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The upcoming biopic is based on Britney Spears\u2019 <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The Woman in Me<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">. The pop icon, 43, is very involved in bringing her life to film. According to <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Life &amp; Style<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, Britney has a lot of say in who will land the leading role, and she has plenty of options to pick from. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cShe\u2019s such a huge inspiration to Gen Z,\u201d a source shared. \u201cThese girls have grown up listening to Britney\u2019s music. To them, she\u2019s an icon. And with John M. She\u2019s very interested in playing the lead role in Britney Spears\u2019 biopic. According to a source who spoke to Daily Mail, Britney herself isn\u2019t fully on board with Millie\u2019s campaign for the role. \u201cMillie is so determined to play Britney, people close to her say it\u2019s like her life\u2019s mission right now,\u201d the insider shared. \u201cShe believes she was born for this role. The problem is, Britney doesn\u2019t see the resemblance.\u201d <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Even earlier, Millie echoed her interest on The Drew Barrymore Show in November 2022. The very next day, Britney took to Instagram and, in a cryptic note, wrote, \u201cI hear about people wanting to do movies about my life\u2026 dude, I\u2019m not dead!!!\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Ariana Grande and Sabrina Carpenter<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Reportedly, the casting directors are also considering pop star Ariana Grande to play Britney Spears in the biopic. After working with director Jon M. Chu on Wicked, Ariana has already \u201cproved how hard she will work for a part,\u201d a source explained. \u201cShe\u2019s a huge fan of Britney and has a great relationship with Jon\u2014she\u2019s just done Wicked with him,\u201d and that connection could give her an edge in landing the role.<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"adboxtop adsizes\">\n<p>Story continues below this ad<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u00a0\u201cI\u2019ve been a fan of Britney since we were both young,\u201d director John said. \u201cI want to tell her story the right way.
