Responding to a question on the government&#8217;s &#8220;view&#8221; relating to the National <a ref=\"dofollow\" data-ga-onclick=\"Inarticle articleshow link click#News#href\" href=\"https:\/\/economictimes.indiatimes.com\/topic\/judicial-appointments\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Judicial Appointments<\/a> Committee (NJAC) and whether it would &#8220;again consider&#8221; bringing in the <a ref=\"dofollow\" data-ga-onclick=\"Inarticle articleshow link click#News#href\" href=\"https:\/\/economictimes.indiatimes.com\/topic\/njac-legislation\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NJAC legislation<\/a>, <a ref=\"dofollow\" data-ga-onclick=\"Inarticle articleshow link click#News#href\" href=\"https:\/\/economictimes.indiatimes.com\/topic\/law-minister-arjun-ram-meghwal\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal<\/a> gave a detailed response on what the now struck down law sought to do. <\/p>\n<p><!--\/dynamic_link.cms?msid=107107653&subsecid=1715249553&pos=toppotime:99-->But he was silent on whether the government will consider bringing the NJAC bill. <\/p>\n<p>In a written response in Rajya Sabha, he said to replace the Collegium system of appointments of judges of the <a ref=\"dofollow\" data-ga-onclick=\"Inarticle articleshow link click#News#href\" href=\"https:\/\/economictimes.indiatimes.com\/topic\/supreme-court\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Supreme Court<\/a> and the high courts with a &#8220;more broad-based, transparent, accountable appointment mechanism&#8221; and to bring greater objectivity in the system, the Constitution (Ninety-Ninth Amendment) Act, 2014 and the National Judicial Appointments Commission Act, 2014 were brought.
