IIM Shillong<\/a> celebrated its 16th Annual Convocation<\/a> Friday. The ceremony witnessed the conferment of degrees upon 475 graduating students, including 381 from the Post Graduate Programme<\/a> (PGP) 2023\u201325 batch.<\/p>\n

Around 54 from the Post Graduate Programme for Executives (PGPEx) 2024\u201325 batch, and 35 from the Post Graduate Programme for Working Executives (PGPWE) 2023\u201325 batch. In addition, five scholars were awarded the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree.<\/p>\n

Shishir Kumar Bajoria, Chairman of the Board of Governors, IIM Shillong, extended his heartfelt congratulations to the graduating students and their families. He acknowledged their dedication, perseverance, and hard work throughout their academic journey. Referring to the graduation attire crafted from the locally produced \u2018Ryndia\u2019 eri silk\u2014recently awarded the Geographical Indication (GI) tag\u2014he noted that it symbolizes the resilience and cultural richness of the Northeast region. He further urged the graduates to shoulder social responsibility, uphold the nation’s values, and become active contributors in realizing the vision of Viksit Bharat<\/a> @2047.<\/p>\n

Delivering the Convocation Address, Meghalaya chief minister Conrad K. Sangma<\/a> commended India\u2019s resilient and rapidly advancing economy. He highlighted that, despite global challenges such as economic recession, India continues to chart a path of strong growth, driven by transformative initiatives like Digital India. He referred to India as the \u201ccountry of the decade\u201d and encouraged the graduates to leverage their education for national progress. \u201cYou are in one of the most promising phases of India\u2019s development. With determination and skill, you can create a lasting positive impact,\u201d he remarked.<\/p>\n

Ashish Modi, President, Honeywell India<\/a>, congratulated all the graduates and shared five important life lessons. First, he encouraged the students to stay hungry and work hard, assuring them that success will follow. Second, he emphasized the importance of speaking up and advised students not to be passengers in their own lives. Third, he urged them to strive to be the best at whatever they choose to do. Fourth, he highlighted the critical role of effective communication in professional and personal growth. Finally, he underscored the significance of health\u2014both physical and mental\u2014as a foundation for a fulfilling life and career.<\/p>\n

Professor D.P. Goyal, Director, IIM Shillong, presented the Institute\u2019s annual report. He spoke of the strides made during the academic year 2024\u201325, emphasizing the Institute\u2019s growing international engagements and local impact. He noted the signing of 31 Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with leading global management institutions and the upcoming launch of the Integrated Programme in Management (IPM). He further underlined IIM Shillong\u2019s unique positioning as an institution that harmonizes global best practices with the rich cultural ethos of India.
