NEW DELHI: Mahendra Singh Dhoni<\/a> has often left fans amazed with his sharp on-field instincts \u2014 whether it’s using the Decision Review System (DRS), reshuffling the batting order, or setting the field under pressure. Another such moment unfolded during the IPL 2025 clash between Chennai Super Kings<\/a> and Delhi Capitals at Chepauk, when Dhoni, sitting in the dressing room, appeared to give a verdict on a dismissal even before the umpire.
The incident occurred in the third over of CSK\u2019s innings. Mitchell Starc<\/a> made a strong LBW appeal against Vijay Shankar<\/a>, but the umpire turned it down. DC wicketkeeper Abishek Porel told Starc that it had hit the bat first, prompting Axar Patel to skip the review based on his teammate\u2019s call.<\/p>\n

However, replays revealed that the ball had struck Shankar’s boot before the bat \u2014 a missed opportunity for Delhi. Starc, watching the replay on the big screen, smiled wryly, knowing they had let a big chance slip.<\/p>\n
