Wonder what banks will say in an English Court.\u201d<\/p>\n<p> The Finance Ministry\u2019s report states that the total value of assets restored to public sector banks in Mallya\u2019s case stands at Rs 14,131.6 crore. The assets were attached under proceedings against fugitive economic offenders, with Mallya among the 11 individuals named. The report adds that India has sent 44 extradition requests covering 36 individuals to various countries.<\/p>\n<p> The Directorate has also seen progress in courts abroad, including the UK, where it said extraditions have been approved in some high-profile cases. \u201cIn this regard, it is pertinent to mention that the UK Court has approved extradition of few high profile accused persons to India following effective representation of the Directorate in coordination with other LEAs and Indian mission abroad,\u201d the report stated.<\/p>\n<p>The Bengaluru bench of the DRT had in 2017 directed a consortium of banks, led by the <a ref=\"dofollow\" data-ga-onclick=\"Inarticle articleshow link click#News#href\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/economictimes.indiatimes.com\/state-bank-of-india\/stocks\/companyid-11984.cms\" rel=\"noopener\">State Bank of India<\/a> (SBI), to recover Rs 6,203 crore with 11.5% annual interest from Mallya and his companies in connection with <a rel=\"dofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/economictimes.indiatimes.com\/kingfisher-airlines-ltd\/stocks\/companyid-276.cms\" data-ga-onclick=\"Inarticle articleshow link click#News#href\" target=\"_blank\">Kingfisher Airlines<\/a>. Mallya has previously claimed he offered to repay the full amount owed but said his proposals were not accepted by banks or the government.
