His current contract with Mercedes is expected to expire next year.<\/p>\n<div class=\"osv-ad-class\" style=\"background-color: #f2f2f2;height: 375px;margin-bottom: 15px;\">\n<p>Story continues below this ad<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>\u201cI do believe we have a North Star now. Which I don\u2019t think we\u2019ve had for two years. But still getting there is not a straight line. I think we understand the car so much better. They have developed great tools in the background. So naturally, I\u2019m hopeful, but I\u2019m not going to hold my breath,\u201d Hamilton had said last year to BBC, sounding confident that Mercedes would be able to recover from a couple of poor seasons and challenge Red Bull.<\/p>\n<p>Hamilton is the most successful driver in F1 history with 103 wins and 104 pole positions with only Michael Schumacher being the other driver who has seven world titles.<\/p>\n<p>Last year, ahead of the final race of the season at Abu Dhabi, rumours had swirled that Hamilton has been angling for a move to Red Bull. Red Bull team principal Christian Horner told a newspaper that Hamilton\u2019s representatives had approached him earlier in the year to ask whether there would be any interest to sign Hamilton \u2014 who inked a two-year-contract with Mercedes in August \u2014 for the team.<\/p>\n<p>Hamilton, though, dismissed the claim, saying that neither he nor his team representatives had contacted Horner.<\/p>\n<div class=\"adboxtop adsizes\">\n<p>Story continues below this ad<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve not approached Christian.
