A few months ago, fans of actor Abhay Deol got together and planned an event that was truly unique for the Indian space, and even the actor wished that he had been there. Abhay Deol\u2019s fans in Delhi hosted a \u2018Abhay Deol lookalike competition\u2019 and in a recent interview, Abhay said that if he<\/a> <\/strong>knew about this event, he would have surely dropped by to cheer for them.<\/p>\n

In a chat with MensXP, Abhay said that he only got to know about the event when he saw pictures online. \u201cI didn\u2019t know about it. Honestly, if I knew, then I would have definitely come for it but I saw it when it happened. That\u2019s when I learnt about it,\u201d he said and added, \u201cI felt bad that I wasn\u2019t there. I wish I was there. I was very touched. I am very shy that way. I don\u2019t like to be in public too much but when I see something like that, I feel like \u2018Haye yaar, yahan pe aa jata toh acha hota<\/em> (It would have been good if I came here)\u2019. It\u2019s something creative, it\u2019s fun.\u201d<\/p>\n

In the same chat, Abhay Deol was asked if there was anything he would change about Bollywood<\/a><\/strong> and the actor spoke about the increasing PR culture. \u201cLike calm down a little bit,\u201d he said and added, \u201cJo dikhta hai voh bikta hai<\/em> (What you see is what sells) so as long as we get the eyeballs, it\u2019s fine. It\u2019s becoming like that all over the world.\u201d<\/p>\n

Abhay recalled that he did not indulge in PR when he started his career in 2005 and shared that now, it is a part of the system so there is no getting away from it. \u201cPR is a part of the structure now. There\u2019s nothing you can do about it,\u201d he said and recalled that he had some very strict rules when he started. \u201cWhen I started, I said I won\u2019t endorse a brand, I won\u2019t become the face of a corporate, I won\u2019t do PR because I came from that sort of left-leaning idealist artistic space and now there\u2019s no space for it anymore,\u201d he said. Abhay shared that he has given in now and during a meeting with the person who handles his PR, Abhay said that it \u201cfelt wrong\u201d to him as he had never done something like this.<\/p>\n

Abhay Deol will next be seen in the film Bun Tikki which also stars Shabana Azmi and Zeenat Aman.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n
