Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger got engaged to former ballerina Melanie Hamrick after years of dating \u2014 and no one had a clue until Hamrick herself revealed it in a Paris Match interview. \u201cWe\u2019ve been engaged two or three years,\u201d said the 37-year-old. The 81-year-old British rock icon began dating his now-fianc\u00e9e back in 2014, after they first met in Japan. During the interview, Hamrick also touched on wedding plans, though it doesn\u2019t sound like the wedding bells are calling anytime soon. \u201cMaybe one day we\u2019ll marry, maybe not. We\u2019re so happy in our current life that I\u2019d be too afraid to change anything,\u201d she said, according to the translated version of her statement.<\/span><\/p>\n

Two years ago, when Hamrick was spotted wearing a big diamond on that finger, she played it coy. At the time, while promoting her debut novel First Position, she said, \u201cIn my mind, it\u2019s a promise ring. We\u2019ll be immature and call it a promise ring.\u201d Now, she\u2019s finally shared the secret behind their long-lasting relationship: \u201cWe try to support each other, be there for each other, and make sure everyone is happy. That\u2019s all that matters to me and all I strive for.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

According to PEOPLE, the Beast of Burden crooner was already a father of seven when he first met Hamrick in Japan during one of the Rolling Stones\u2019 tours<\/a>, which happened to coincide with a tour date for Hamrick\u2019s American Ballet Theatre. The two crossed paths backstage at the concert, and sparks flew instantly. However, according to Hamrick, Jagger was already in a relationship at the time, and they didn\u2019t even exchange numbers. When asked about their first meeting by the local French outlet, she said, \u201cMaybe a spark, but nothing incredible, like, \u2018Come on, I\u2019ll blow your mind, and we\u2019ll travel the world.\u2019\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n
