Emraan Hashmi, who is currently promoting his upcoming film Ground Zero<\/a><\/strong>, recently opened up about the most difficult phase of his life. Emraan recalled the time when his son,<\/a> <\/strong>who was three-years-old at the time, was diagnosed with cancer. The actor shared that his entire life \u201cchanged in one afternoon\u201d and his \u201cwhole world flipped in a matter of 12 hours.\u201d He also spoke about the time when his mother got diagnosed with cancer soon after his son finished his treatment.<\/p>\n

In a chat with Ranveer Allahbadia on his YouTube channel, Emraan shared, \u201cThe most difficult phase of my life was when my son fell sick in 2014. No professional upheaval comes even close to that. This went on for five years.\u201d He recalled the day when they first spotted a symptom in January 2014. \u201cMy entire life changed in one afternoon. It was January 13 when we went for a brunch and the first noticeable symptom happened there. My son asked my wife to take him to washroom and he passed blood in his urine,\u201d he said and added, \u201cFrom what was a very joyous brunch, in the next three hours, we were sitting inside a clinic and the doctor was telling us that your son has cancer<\/a>, you will have to get him operated the next day, and then there will be chemotherapy. My whole world flipped in a matter of 12 hours. Before this, no one in my family could see the symptoms.\u201d<\/p>\n

Emraan said that his wife and him couldn\u2019t even cry in front of their son as they did not want to affect his mental state. \u201cThe first day we got this news, we couldn\u2019t even cry in front of our son. So I remember that we actually went inside a room and cried because we didn\u2019t want to affect our son\u2019s mental state in this,\u201d he said and shared that this was the only day when they cried.<\/p>\n

Talking about his own mental state during this phase, Emraan said that he had a \u201cweak moment\u201d during this time. \u201cWhen I came home for the first time after this, I wanted to smash myself into the glass door by the balcony. That was a fleeting thought. That was my turbulent state of mind then,\u201d he said and shared that he and his wife made a conscious choice of staying positive and getting through this difficult phase.<\/p>\n

Emraan said that soon after his son finished his treatment, his mother was diagnosed with cancer, and she passed away within six months. \u201cAfter my son\u2019s treatment got over, my mother was diagnosed. My mother passed away after six months. That was a big shock for me,\u201d he said. Emraan further added, \u201cOne of my biggest regrets is, I was shooting and I didn\u2019t know this would happen. She had taken chemotherapy but when I was boarding the flight, that\u2019s when I got the call that she is no more. Those 15 hours of that flight were the longest 15 hours f my life.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n
