Marking a significant milestone in oncological surgery and improving outcome for cancer patients, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma inaugurated North East India\u2019s first ever onco-robotic surgery facility<\/a> at the State Cancer Institute<\/a> in GMCH premises.<\/p>\n

This cutting-edge Robotic Surgery<\/a> Machine has been procured by the State government under National Programme for Prevention and Control of Cancer, Diabetes, Cardiovascular Diseases and Stroke (NPCDCS) scheme of the Central government at the cost of Rs. 14.99 crore.<\/p>\n

Robotic surgery offers enhanced precision, superior control and 3D visualization enabling better outcomes in cancer care. The machine is equipped with universal safety features and articulating endoscope and camera control system with the latest software and is \u2018Make in India\u2019 technology. Surgery involving this robotic facility will significantly decrease operation time, decrease chances of bleeding capable of performing complex procedures with precision and ease.S<\/p>\n

Sarma speaking on the occasion of introducing this integrated facility said, \u201cAssam is beginning Rongali celebrations by dedicating North East India\u2019s first ever robotic surgery facility. Our Government hospital will now offer low-cost, highly precise ad least invasive oncological surgical procedures through \u2018Make in India\u2019 technology\u201d.<\/p>\n

He on the occasion also announced that similar facility (Robotic Surgery System) will be introduced in Dibrugarh and Silchar very shortly for the benefits of the patients living in Upper Assam and Barak Valley region.<\/p>\n

Sarma also said that adequate and well-coordinated steps have been taken to ensure empowering the doctors to operate this high-end medical equipment. He also said that the government is in the process of beginning nursing colleges in all cancer hospitals across the state where the students will get exposure in the English and Japanese languages to help them expanding their career opportunities in vast geographical areas.The Chief Minister also said that with the launch of the robotic surgery facility, government has reaffirmed its commitment to advancing healthcare infrastructure in Assam and ensuring world-class treatment for every citizen.He on the occasion also expressed his gratitude to ICICI Foundation for its contribution under CSR initiative and donating high end medical equipment to State Cancer Institute, Guwahati. He also extended his gratitude to Assam Cancer Care Foundation, State Cancer Institute, Gauhati Medical College and Hospital for their cooperation.
