Sunny Deol\u2019s latest release, Jaat,<\/a><\/strong> opened at the box office with decent numbers before witnessing a surge over the weekend. However, the film was hit by a typical Monday slump. According to industry tracker Sacnilk, Jaat minted Rs 7.5 crore on Monday, bringing its total domestic collection to Rs 47.75 crore.<\/p>\n

Jaat began its box office journey on Thursday, minting Rs 9.5 crore. The film had a lower-than-expected opening, as fans were hoping it would compete with, if not surpass, Sunny\u2019s previous film Gadar 2\u2019s massive opening of Rs 40.1 crore. On Friday, the film saw a drop of over 26 percent in its collections, raking in Rs 7 crore. However, the weekend brought some good news. Jaat minted Rs 9.75 crore on Saturday and Rs 14 crore on Sunday<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh had predicted that the film would sustain its momentum on Monday owing to the Ambedkar Jayanti holiday. He wrote, \u201cWith Monday being a holiday [#AmbedkarJayanti], #Jaat is expected to maintain its momentum before settling into regular weekday trends from Tuesday onward.\u201d However, the film proved him wrong by slipping into weekday trends from Monday itself.<\/p>\n

Jaat doesn\u2019t hold a candle to Gadar 2, which had collected Rs 686 crore worldwide. Sunny\u2019s previous blockbuster had raked in Rs 228.98 crore within its first five days \u2013 a figure far ahead of Jaat\u2019s Rs 47.75 crore in the same time frame. The film, which released a week after Salman Khan\u2019s Sikandar,<\/a><\/strong> is also competing with it at the box office. Sikandar has collected Rs 109.39 crore in 16 days, with Rs 29 lakh coming in on Monday.<\/p>\n

Trade analyst Sumit Kadel shared that Jaat could become a hit if it manages to enter the Rs 100 crore club. While the film is inching closer to the Rs 50 crore mark, whether it will eventually cross Rs 100 crore remains to be seen. Sunny marked a comeback with Gadar 2, as he hadn\u2019t delivered a solo hit in decades before that. He has a strong slate lined up; it includes the period drama Lahore: 1947, directed by Rajkumar Santoshi and produced by Aamir Khan<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n
