{"id":283282,"date":"2025-04-16T10:06:10","date_gmt":"2025-04-16T10:06:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/news.talkwithrattan.com\/index.php\/2025\/04\/16\/formula-one-launch-f1-tv-in-india-target-strong-mobile-market\/"},"modified":"2025-04-16T10:06:10","modified_gmt":"2025-04-16T10:06:10","slug":"formula-one-launch-f1-tv-in-india-target-strong-mobile-market","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/news.talkwithrattan.com\/index.php\/2025\/04\/16\/formula-one-launch-f1-tv-in-india-target-strong-mobile-market\/","title":{"rendered":"Formula One launch F1 TV in India, target \u2018strong mobile market\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"text-align:center\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i3.wp.com\/data.indianexpress.com\/election2019\/track_1x1.jpg?ssl=1\" class=\"attachment-post-thumbnail size-post-thumbnail wp-post-image\" alt=\"Formula One launch F1 TV in India, target \u2018strong mobile market\u2019\" title=\"Formula One launch F1 TV in India, target \u2018strong mobile market\u2019\" \/><\/div><p> <br \/>\n<\/p>\n<p>India\u2019s \u201cvery strong mobile market\u201d is one of the main factors behind Formula One launching its TV streaming product F1 TV in the country, the sport\u2019s director of media rights Ian Holmes told Reuters.<\/p>\n<p>Formula One has enjoyed increasing popularity in India, with the country hosting Formula One races at the Buddh International Circuit between 2011-13.<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>In recent years, broadcasters Star Sports aired Formula One in India, while video platform Hotstar streamed the races.<\/p>\n<div class=\"osv-ad-class\" style=\"background-color: #f2f2f2;height: 375px;margin-bottom: 15px;\">\n<p>Story continues below this ad<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>F1 TV, which will be launched in India ahead of the 2023 season, gives fans access to cameras mounted on the cars of 20 drivers as well as the traditional broadcast feed for all race weekends, including practice sessions, qualifying sessions, races and sprint events.<\/p>\n<p>When asked why Formula One had made the decision to launch F1 TV Pro in India, Holmes pointed to the country\u2019s booming online streaming space, saying, \u201cIndia is a connected market, it\u2019s a sophisticated market, it\u2019s a very strong mobile market.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn terms of familiarity with digital rights content being through non-traditional channels and platforms, that exists in India, so that was attractive to us,\u201d Holmes added.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe also obviously talked to Star and one or two other more traditional platforms and we felt that they didn\u2019t value our rights in the way that we did.<\/p>\n<div class=\"adboxtop adsizes\">\n<p>Story continues below this ad<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>\u201cWe may seek to do a more sort of traditional linear type deal in due course, but we\u2019re very comfortable and confident with F1 TV. There are a lot of very knowledgeable and passionate fans in India.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Formula One\u2019s global popularity has also seen a significant surge recently, thanks in part to Netflix docu-series \u2018Drive to Survive\u2019, with Holmes crediting the splash hit for helping attract younger audiences, as well as more women, to the sport.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt really has been a lot more popular than I think anyone imagined and seems to go from strength to strength,\u201d Holmes said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s a double whammy. It\u2019s not just bringing in more fans, it\u2019s also about who those fans are and the value of those fans with regard to the demographic.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"adboxtop adsizes\">\n<p>Story continues below this ad<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Holmes added that Formula One is taking further steps to expand its audience and create a more exciting product.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOver the last sort of four or five years, we as a business have certainly have grown our resources and our commitment to the sport, in terms of spending money and resources,\u201d Holmes said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have consciously worked hard to push out ever more content on social. I think the on track action has certainly been super exciting.
