Rohit Shetty doesn\u2019t believe that all friendships in the film industry are fickle. He feels friendships and betrayals are part of every industry, and the film industry is no different. The filmmaker considers actors Ajay Devgn, Deepika Padukone, and Ranveer Singh, and filmmaker Karan Johar among his closest friends in the business.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere are 2-3 people (I can call up at 2 am). There\u2019s Ajay sir, Ranveer Singh<\/a>, Deepika. I\u2019m very close to them. When only the last schedule of our film (Singham Again<\/a>) was pending, Deepika was four months pregnant. But she came for the shoot. Relations like these are rarely made,\u201d said Rohit.<\/p>\n

In the interview on the YouTube channel Game Changers, Rohit Shetty revealed that while he keeps his distance from film trial shows, the last exception he made was for Deepika Padukone<\/a>-starrer 2018 blockbuster, Sanjay Leela Bhansali\u2019s historical drama Padmaavat. \u201cInvitations have stopped coming now because people know I won\u2019t come. They\u2019ve stopped completely for trials. If I don\u2019t like a film, how do I say as much? The one who\u2019s invited you is hopeful that you\u2019d say it\u2019s good. That\u2019s cheating. That\u2019s why I fear trials. The last time I went for a trial was when Deepika called me for Padmaavat. I really liked it. There were a lot of issues going on then, so Deepika requested that we all come together. I said, \u2018Definitely, why not,’\u201d added Rohit. For the uninitiated, Padmaavat faced opposition<\/a> from the Shri Rajput Karni Sena over the alleged maligning of the Rajput community.<\/p>\n

The filmmaker said he doesn\u2019t go to parties either. \u201cThe last time I went to a party was 2-3 years ago for Karan Johar<\/a>\u2019s birthday. He\u2019s like a brother to me so I went there, otherwise I don\u2019t go to parties at all,\u201d said Rohit. Rohit and Karan co-judged the TV reality show India\u2019s Next Superstars back in 2018. They also co-produced Rohit\u2019s 2018 cop drama Simmba, starring Ranveer Singh, under their respective banners Rohit Shetty Picturez and Dharma Productions.<\/p>\n

After Simmba, Ranveer also appeared in other films of Rohit\u2019s cop universe \u2014 Sooryavanshi (2021) and Singham Again (2024). He also played the lead role in Rohit\u2019s 2022 comedy Cirkus. Deepika also appeared alongside Ranveer for a special dance song \u2014 \u201cCurrent Laga Re\u201d \u2014 in Cirkus. She was introduced as Lady Singham in Singham Again last year. Deepika\u2019s maiden collaboration with Rohit was the 2013 blockbuster romantic comedy Chennai<\/a> Express.<\/p>\n

Rohit Shetty has done the maximum number of films with Ajay Devgn, a collaboration that began with his 2003 directorial debut, Zameen. Ajay has played the lead in Rohit\u2019s Singham Golmaal franchise, Sunday (2008), All The Best (2009), and Bol Bachchan (2012). \u201cWe started out together. My dad (stuntman Shetty) and his dad (action director Veeru Devgan) were in the same genre, they did action. Our bond is 33 years old. I\u2019ve also worked in his company (Devgn Films) \u2014 Dil Kya Kare (1999), Raju Chacha (2000), Hindustan Ki Kasam (1999) \u2014 I was the Associate Director or I was in production in those films,\u201d said Rohit.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s not a professional (bond). There\u2019s no friendship either. He\u2019s like my elder brother. I would never wrap my hand around his shoulders while talking. We respect each other and are old school. He plays pranks on me, but I stay within the boundary of respect,\u201d added Rohit.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n
