He also alleged that a nearby lake was being illegally filled to make way for roads and housing plots.

Following the complaint, Hydraa officials conducted a field inspection in the dargah area of Raidurg, located in Shaikpet mandal, and discovered large-scale illegal occupation in Survey No. 5/2.

“The inspection revealed that 39 acres of government land had been encroached. Signboards warned that the land was disputed, yet Narne Estates had erected their own signage, advertising plots for sale. Roads were being laid, plots marketed, and even the lake was being filled,” Hydraa commissioner AV Ranganath told TOI.

Hydraa swiftly demolished unauthorized structures, cleared the encroachments, installed government property markers, and filed a police case against Narne Estates for land grabbing, unauthorised development, and encroachment of water bodies.

Live Events

Another 39 acres reclaimed in Hafeezpet

According to the TOI report, in a separate operation on the same day, Hydraa cracked down on a second large-scale encroachment in Hafeezpet. The team targeted 39.2 acres of prohibited government land in Survey No. 79 under Serilingampally municipality—over half of which had already been developed into residential and commercial spaces. According to Ranganath, Vasantha Homes, a construction firm, manipulated survey records to create a fake sub-survey number. This allowed them to illegally develop around 19 acres for housing and convert the rest into office spaces and sheds, which were then rented out to private entities. What makes the case even more serious is that the land is under litigation in the Supreme Court, which had specifically barred any development until a final judgment was passed.

“Despite the court’s order, the company went ahead with construction. During a recent hearing, the court expressed shock and demanded to know how such blatant violations occurred,” Ranganath told TOI.

Hydraa has since cleared illegal structures and boundary walls in Hafeezpet and erected signs marking the land as government property.

Officials said more such actions are planned in coming weeks as part of a wider crackdown on illegal land occupation across Hyderabad.

Source link

A young boy’s heartfelt request for a space to play cricket has sparked one of the largest anti-encroachment drives in Hyderabad, leading to the demolition of illegal constructions and the recovery of nearly 78 acres of prime government land across two locations in the city, reported TOI.
