Actor Aamir Khan<\/a><\/strong> placated his daughter Ira when she approached him with her insecurities about not being self-reliant in her 20s<\/a><\/strong>. Ira said that she felt useless for not earning for herself even as an adult. Aamir said in an interview that he doesn\u2019t judge people on how much money they have, and told Ira that she needn\u2019t worry about it. He said that she would not be utilising her full potential if she were working a 9-5 job. \u201cI\u2019m here to support you, why are you worried?\u201d he said. Aamir and Ira participated in a joint interview with Pinkvilla, where they spoke about her foundation, Agatsu.<\/p>\n

\u201cMain 26-27 saal ki hoon, mere maa baap ne mere upar bahut paise kharch kiye hain, aur main duniya mein bekar insaan hoon, main kuch nahi kar rahi hoon<\/em>. (My parents have spent a lot of money on me. I am 26\u201327 years old, and I feel like a useless person in this world. I am not doing anything),\u201d she said in the interview, confessing her fears. Aamir interjected to offer support. He said, \u201cAap paise kama rahe ho ya nahi, wo mere liye important nahi hai. Aap kaam accha kar rahe ho, ye mere liye important hai<\/em> (You are helping so many people, and that means a lot to me. Whether you are earning money or not is not important; the good work you are doing is).\u201d<\/p>\n

Explaining his stance on money, Aamir said, \u201cMoney is actually a promissory note that everyone decides to agree to \u2014 or else it\u2019s just a piece of paper. It\u2019s an imagined concept. Often, we see people who are extremely talented and capable, but they don\u2019t know how to make money. They have incredible skills. Does that make them useless? They can\u2019t earn because they don\u2019t fit inside this system we\u2019ve created. I\u2019ve met so many brilliant people.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ira said that she had a conversation about money around a year ago, and Aamir told her that she must find her purpose and be of help to people. \u201cSome people help others, but charge money for it. But as long as they\u2019re helping people, money is a separate issue. I\u2019m so proud, as a father, to see her help so many people. It\u2019s not important to me if you\u2019re earning or not. Fortunately, your parents are well-off. Instead of putting all your energy into earning money, you can put it into helping people. That\u2019s what I advised her. If you\u2019re not taking money for helping people, it\u2019s your choice, and it\u2019s a great thing.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ira, who has spoken publicly about her mental health struggles<\/a><\/strong>, admitted that her foundation is in dire need of cash. Aamir said that he never questions people who aren\u2019t able to financially support important causes, and cited his own experiences with his Paani Foundation.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n
