Heavy rain<\/a> accompanied by a dust storm and thunderstorms lashed Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR) early Friday morning, bringing much-needed relief from the sweltering heat but also causing significant disruption.Check Live Updates<\/a><\/p>\n

Strong winds led to the collapse of a metal structure at Terminal 3 of the Delhi airport<\/a>. Several parts of the city experienced waterlogging, including areas near the Akshardham flyover, as captured in videos shared by ANI and PTI.<\/p>\n

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Delhi recorded a minimum temperature of 26.8\u00b0C\u20142.1\u00b0C above the seasonal average. The maximum temperature is expected to hover around 37\u00b0C. The IMD has also forecast more rain and thunderstorms through the day.<\/p>\n

A severe weather alert has been issued for Delhi-NCR, with warnings of strong winds, hail, and potential damage to trees, crops, and power infrastructure. The IMD cautioned residents to remain indoors, avoid sheltering under trees, unplug electronic devices, and steer clear of water bodies and metal objects.
Wind gusts were particularly strong between 5:30 am and 5:50 am, with speeds recorded at 78 kmph in Pragati Maidan, 62 kmph in Palam, and between 52-59 kmph at Lodhi Road, Pitampura, Nazafgarh, and IGNOU.<\/p>\n

Authorities have warned that traffic may be further affected later in the day due to ongoing waterlogging and weather conditions.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
