Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said the government will identify and nab the persons involved in the murder of Hindu activist Suhas Shetty as tension grips Mangaluru, and parts of Dakshina Kannada district.The police have clamped prohibitory orders in the entire Dakshina Kannada district till May 6.<\/p>\n

The CM, speaking to the media at Mandya, said top police officials were camping in Mangaluru and investigations would reveal the motive behind the murder and if it was a pre-planned one.<\/p>\n

On the BJP\u2019s comments on the incident, he said the saffron party always looked to exploit such issues.<\/p>\n

The police are also probing if Shetty\u2019s murder had a link with the recent lynching of Ashraf, a resident of Wayanad in Kerala. Shetty was facing criminal cases and was an accused in the murder of Mahammed Fazil in Surathkal three years ago, and walked out of jail on bail, last year.<\/p>\n

Shetty was attacked by a group of men in Mangaluru on Thursday as he was driving in his SUV with a group of friends. He was rushed to AJ Hospital, but by then he had died. Dakshina Kannada BJP MLAs and RSS leaders visited him in the hospital. Additional DGP R Hitendra said they have clues about the people behind the murder and would arrest the accused soon.The national highway 66 was blocked for a long time as Shetty\u2019s body was taken in a long procession to his village for conducting final rites.<\/p>\n

‘No place for Hindus’<\/h2>\n

Opposition leader R Ashoka (BJP) said there was no place for Hindus under the Congress regime in Karnataka. \u201cJust like in Kashmir and in West Bengal\u2019s Murshidabad, Hindus are being identified and killed in busy streets.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cSiddaramaiah is a colossal disaster as Chief Minister and has completely lost control over the state\u2019s law and order. He has lost the moral authority to continue in office,\u201d he said, while calling for Home Minister G Parameshwara\u2019s resignation.<\/p>\n

Deputy leader of Opposition (BJP) Arvind Bellad said he was \u201cshocked and heartbroken\u201d by the brutal murder. \u201cThis isn\u2019t just a tragic incident\u2014it\u2019s a grim reflection of the total breakdown of law & order under the @INCKarnataka regime.\u201d
