Nawazuddin Siddiqui has established himself as one of the most acclaimed Indian actors of his generation. He has also worked with some of the biggest stars of the industry, like Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan and many more. In a recent interview, he talked about his experience of working with Salman, and also gave his two cents on the failure of Salman\u2019s latest film, Sikandar.<\/a><\/p>\n

While promoting his film Costao on Lallantop\u2019s YouTube channel, the Gangs of Wasseypur actor defended Salman for Sikandar\u2019s lacklustre performance at the box office. \u201cThe onus should not solely fall on Bhai (Salman Khan<\/a>); the makers should work harder to give the film that essence and quality. He is putting everything on the plate for you, but if the directors don\u2019t work properly, we can\u2019t put the entire blame on the superstars. It is a collaborative art, not a painting that you make alone at home,\u201d added Nawaz.<\/p>\n

He continued, \u201cThe specialty of a superstar lies in their ability to turn a normal film into a big attraction, whether it has that essence or not. When someone like Salman Khan signs up to do a movie, the director\u2019s responsibility increases because he is bringing you all these fans on a platter.\u201d<\/p>\n

When asked about working with Salman on Bajrangi Bhaijaan, Nawaz called him a \u2018Faraakh-dil\u2019 (large-hearted) person.<\/a> \u201cI have always enjoyed working with him because he is very passionate about his work and is also a very giving actor. During Bajrangi Bhaijaan, he used to give me his line during the scene and say, \u2018Tu bol yeh dialogue,\u2019 and this is not just something he did for me, but he is like this for everyone.\u201d<\/p>\n

Directed by AR Murugadoss, Sikandar also featured Rashmika Mandanna, Kajal Aggarwal, Sharman Joshi and Suniel Shetty. It released in theatres on March 30, and tanked with under Rs 150 crore. Many critics blamed the script, while Salman even blamed other people in the industry for not supporting his films.<\/a> According to industry tracker Sacnilk, the film currently sits at Rs 110 crore at the domestic box office. On the other hand, Bajrangi Bhaijaan had an India nett collection of Rs 320 crore.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n
