His role sparked angry protests, particularly targeting establishments belonging to the minority community. By Thursday, the situation had escalated, with violent mobs destroying property and the city virtually coming to a halt.<\/p>\n<p>On Friday, the Uttarakhand High Court took suo motu cognizance, directing the state government to ensure law and order and staying the demolition of the accused&#8217;s house &#8211; a move the administration had initiated.<\/p>\n<p>The unrest has come just as the tourist season begins in the hill state, leading to cancellation of bookings and economic concerns. Police have stepped up deployment in sensitive areas.<\/p>\n<p>Uttarakhand DGP Deepam Seth said the situation was now under control, warning of strict action against those spreading misinformation.
