Additionally, he was absent during the five-match Test series against England earlier this year, as he continued to recuperate from the injury.Despite these setbacks, Shami remains determined to make a strong comeback and contribute to his team&#8217;s success.<br \/>Taking to Instagram, Shami wrote in the caption of his reel, &#8220;Injuries don&#8217;t define you, your comeback will.. Can&#8217;t wait to be back out there with my team! #mdshami #recoveryjourney #shami #mdshami11&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The 33-year-old fast bowler&#8217;s last appearance for India was in the <a href=\"https:\/\/timesofindia.indiatimes.com\/sports\/cricket\/icc-cricket-world-cup-2023\" styleobj=\"[object Object]\" class=\"\" target=\"\" frmappuse=\"1\" rel=\"noopener\">ODI World Cup<\/a> final against Australia in November. Despite battling through injury, Shami showcased his resilience by emerging as the tournament&#8217;s highest wicket-taker, claiming an impressive tally of 24 wickets in just 7 matches.<br \/>Despite enduring pain during the World Cup campaign, Shami&#8217;s performance remained unaffected as he continued to deliver for the team. However, he was subsequently sidelined for India&#8217;s tour to South Africa and the three-match T20I series against Afghanistan in January to focus on his recovery.<br \/>He underwent a successful recovery from his injury back in February.<br \/>Shami contributed significantly to GT&#8217;s success in both the IPL seasons. The 33-year-old bowler picked up 20 wickets in 2022 and followed it up with an even stronger performance in IPL 2023, taking 28 wickets at an average of 18.64.
