On Monday, President Droupadi Murmu<\/a> presented the Padma Awards 2024<\/a> at Rashtrapati Bhavan<\/a>. One of the wonderful moments of the program was a video of Prime Minister Modi humbly touching the feet of Padma Shri Drona Bhuyan<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Folk Artist Drona Bhuyan received Padma Shri for Arts on April 22. On the occasion, Prime Minister Narendra Modi touched the feet of Drona Bhuyan. Padma Awards – one of the highest civilian Awards of the country is conferred in three categories, namely- Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan, and Padma Shri. The Awards are given in various disciplines\/fields of activities, viz.- art, social work, public affairs, science and engineering, trade and industry, medicine, literature and education, sports, civil service, etc. \u2018Padma Vibhushan\u2019 is awarded for exceptional and distinguished service; \u2018Padma Bhushan\u2019 for distinguished service of high order and \u2018Padma Shri\u2019 for distinguished service in any field.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Who is Drona Bhuyan?<\/h2>\n

Drona Bhuyan is a master of traditional culture’s ‘Suknani Ojapali<\/a> and Deodhani dance<\/a>‘. Shri Bhuyan is now a successful leader of Suknani Sangeet and Deodhani Dance, having made significant contributions to the development of Darrang District’s performing arts. Shri Bhuyan has got numerous honors. Some of the prizes are the “GURU TILE” from the Ministry of Culture in 2009, the “MEERA AWARD 2012” organized by Rastriya Natya and Loka Kala Mahotsav in Agra, the “Ek Kalin Bota 2019” and “Bishnu Rabha Bota 2021” by Cultural Affairs, Assam, Rabindra Bhawan, Guwahati, and the “Assam Gaurav 2023”.<\/div>\n
