Two individuals, one of whom was an agent from Myanmar\u2019s Rakhine, were apprehended in Hyderabad following the return of a Myanmar couple who had traveled to Russia using <a data-ga-onclick=\"Inarticle articleshow link click#News#href\" href=\"https:\/\/economictimes.indiatimes.com\/topic\/fake-indian-passports\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">fake Indian passports<\/a> to New Delhi, ToI reported. <\/p>\n<p><!--\/article_liveblog.cms?msid=107107653potime:1-->The racket, operating from Bangladesh, also provided counterfeit <a data-ga-onclick=\"Inarticle articleshow link click#News#href\" href=\"https:\/\/economictimes.indiatimes.com\/topic\/aadhaar-and-pan-cards\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Aadhaar and PAN cards<\/a> for the couple.Many individuals were sent to various Indian regions including Delhi, while others with money were sent to foreign countries. According to the police, the gang was providing a bundled offer of 10 lakh Bangladeshi takas for each person. Authorities have arrested two men, one of whom is an agent from Rakhine state in Myanmar. The search for the remaining individuals is on.<\/p>\n<p>The arrested men, Nurul also known as Noor Alam and Abdul Gaffar and as Arka Roy, have been identified. The illegal operation was exposed following the deportation of a 30-year-old man and a 23-year-old woman from Russia on an Aeroflot flight on February 22. <\/p>\n<p>The man was in possession of a passport under the name of Shuvojit Das, while the woman carried documents under the name of Babita. Further investigations uncovered that their actual names were Toha and Rabiya, and they held citizenship of Myanmar.<\/p>\n<p>The passports were issued from the regional passport office in Kolkata. Both individuals left for Russia from Delhi airport on February 20. The individuals who were deported disclosed that they were enticed by Alam to pay for Indian documents. The man stated that he had sold all his family jewelry to pay Alam.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe agent facilitated their illegal entry into India through Agartala border. Thereafter, they visited Sealdah, Barasat and Hridayapur in West Bengal for several days before Alam and his associates managed to get them Aadhaar and PAN cards, and the passports were issued in their names fraudulently,\u201d deputy commissioner of police (airport) Usha Rangnani said.The police tracked Alam to Hyderabad. A special team, headed by Inspector Raj Kumar Yadav, apprehended him and his accomplice, Gaffar, at the airport in that city. Alam informed the authorities that he had been managing the illegal operation from Bangladesh, while his partner, Sheikh Arif Ali, was overseeing it from West Bengal.Ali worked at a company that updated Aadhaar Card information. He was skilled in Photoshop and other editing applications, and he used to create fake documents for the group.
