An Israeli official described the negotiations as in \u201ccrisis.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">Late in the day, Hamas <a class=\"css-yywogo\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2024\/05\/05\/world\/middleeast\/hamas-rocket-kerem-shalom-israel.html\" title=\"\">launched rockets<\/a> at a border crossing between Gaza and Israel, killing four Israeli soldiers.
