For many Indians, buying vegetables<\/a> isn’t complete without the pleasant surprise of complimentary coriander leaves<\/a> (dhaniya patta<\/a>). This tradition, however, is missing when ordering vegetables online. A Mumbai man<\/a> highlighted this issue on X, sharing that his mother was shocked to find she had to pay for coriander when ordering from Blinkit<\/a>.<\/p>\n

He mentioned that his mother suggested the herbs should be free with a certain amount of vegetable purchase. His post gained attention, including from Blinkit’s CEO<\/a>, Albinder Dhindsa<\/a>, who responded with “Will do.” Later, Dhindsa updated on X, surprising many users.<\/p>\n

It began with a post by X user Ankit Sawant<\/a>, who wrote, \u201cMom got a mini heart attack because she had to pay for dhaniya on Blinkit. @albinder – mom is suggesting that you should bundle it for free with a certain amount of veggies.\u201d He tagged Blinkit CEO Albinder Dhindsa in his post. Shortly after, Dhindsa replied on X, saying, \u201cIt\u2019s live! Everyone please thank Ankit\u2019s mom. We will polish the feature in the next couple of weeks.\u201d<\/p>\n

Free Dhaniya post becomes viral<\/h2>\n

He also shared a screenshot showing Blinkit offering 100g of complimentary<\/a> coriander with certain vegetable orders. The post has since garnered over 440,000 views, with Dhindsa promising to implement the change.<\/p>\n

What netizens said about Blinkit CEO’s response<\/h2>\n

Many users were impressed by the speed of execution from Blinkit. “By far the one of the most impressive usage of Social Media ( X specifically ) and fast implementation by the company. Betting big time on Zomato<\/a> & Blinkit,” said an user. Another user requested to give chilly free along with dhaniya.<\/p>\n

Another person made a a different request to Blinkit CEO: “Great you are listening to your customers so promptly. One more request, please introduce jute \/ cloth bags for carrying against refundable fees. I won’t mind paying a small fee to get my Blinkit orders always in reusable bags. I feel we are generating a lot of paper waste.”<\/p>\n

Albinder Dhindsa, the co-founder and CEO of Blinkit (formerly Grofers<\/a>), launched the company in 2013. This Gurugram-based company, which was later acquired by Zomato. The food delivery platform Zomato<\/a> reported a smaller-than-expected quarterly profit on Monday, hurt by surging advertising and marketing expenses as it grappled with intensifying competition,. It reported a consolidated net profit of Rs 175 crore for the quarter ended March 31, below analysts’ expectations of Rs 188 crore. The Gurugram-based firm had posted a loss of 1.89 billion rupees a year earlier. Zomato’s total expenses swelled nearly 50% due to a jump in marketing and sales promotion costs. Its contribution margin, a key profit metric, however, expanded to 7.5% from 5.8% a year ago as the company started charging a platform fee on all grocery and food orders.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
