This decision, mandated by the <a data-ga-onclick=\"Inarticle articleshow link click#News#href\" href=\"https:\/\/economictimes.indiatimes.com\/topic\/election-commission\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Election Commission<\/a> of India (ECI), aims to ensure public order during the <a data-ga-onclick=\"Inarticle articleshow link click#News#href\" href=\"https:\/\/economictimes.indiatimes.com\/topic\/polling\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">polling<\/a> process.<\/p>\n<p><!--\/article_liveblog.cms?msid=107107653potime:1-->According to the ECI directive, <a data-ga-onclick=\"Inarticle articleshow link click#News#href\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/economictimes.indiatimes.com\/definition\/bars\" rel=\"noopener\">bars<\/a> and <a data-ga-onclick=\"Inarticle articleshow link click#News#href\" href=\"https:\/\/economictimes.indiatimes.com\/topic\/wine-shops\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">wine shops<\/a> in Lucknow will remain closed from 5:00 pm on May 18 until 5:00 pm on May 20. This measure extends to the adjacent constituencies as well. &#8220;All wine shops and bars will be closed on polling day to maintain public order,&#8221; stated the ECI directive.<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, Lucknow will observe another dry day on June 4, coinciding with the counting of votes. This dry period will continue until the election results are announced. Similar measures are in place in other regions as well. In Haryana\u2019s Gurugram and the Delhi NCR region, dry days are scheduled from 6:00 pm on May 23 to 6:00 pm on May 25. Kolkata will also enforce dry days from 6:00 pm on May 18 until the conclusion of polling on May 20.<\/p>\n<p>The fifth phase of Lok Sabha elections on May 20 encompasses 49 constituencies across six states and two Union Territories. Apart from Uttar Pradesh, states participating in this phase include Maharashtra, Bihar, Jammu &amp; Kashmir, Jharkhand, Ladakh, Odisha, and West Bengal.
