An escort vehicle<\/a>, part of the cavalcade of BJP<\/a>‘s Kaiserganj Lok Sabha candidate<\/a> Karan Bhushan Singh, on Wednesday rammed into a motorcycle in Gonda’s Colonelganj area<\/a>, killing two youths<\/a> and injuring a lady. Singh is the son of Kaiserganj MP Brij Bhushan<\/a> Sharan Singh, who is facing sexual harassment charges. <\/p>\n

The incident took place around 9 am near Huzurpur road crossing. The two youths – Rehan and Shehzad – were brought to the Colonelganj community health centre<\/a>, where they were declared dead. The police took the vehicle, a Toyota Fortuner<\/a>, into custody while the driver was arrested. According to their father, the two boys were going to get medicines. One of them had returned from Saudi Arabia. Following the accident<\/a>, villagers gathered and protested against the accident, but were pacified by the police. <\/p>\n

A first information report was registered against the driver under sections 304A, 427, 279 and 184 of the Indian Penal Code<\/a>. <\/p>\n

As per senior police officers<\/a>, the escort vehicle lagged behind the rest of the cavalcade as it was stopped by a railway crossing and the driver, trying to keep up with the convoy, sped up. However, a woman suddenly appeared in his path, leading to the accident, they said. No statement was issued by Singh or his father till press time.<\/div>\n
