KLM did not say whether the person who died was an airline employee or airport worker.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<aside class=\"css-ew4tgv\" aria-label=\"companion column\"\/><\/div>\n<div>\n<div class=\"css-53u6y8\">\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">Schiphol Airport said in a message posted in Dutch on <a class=\"css-yywogo\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/Schiphol\/status\/1795824804941160714\" title=\"\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">social media<\/a> that \u201cthere was a horrible incident where a person ended up in an airplane engine.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">\u201cOur thoughts go out to the relatives, and we are caring for the passengers and colleagues who saw this,\u201d the airport said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">The passengers onboard disembarked after the episode, the Dutch military police said on <a class=\"css-yywogo\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/Marechaussee\/status\/1795822095873749290\" title=\"\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">social media<\/a>, adding that they were investigating.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">Images <a class=\"css-yywogo\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/fl360aero\/status\/1795824540569788647\" title=\"\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">that circulated on social media<\/a> showed fire trucks and other emergency vehicles next to the plane on the tarmac.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">The plane was an Embraer ERJ-190, a twin-engine jet, according to FlightAware, a website that tracks air travel. The jet carries up to 100 people, and is known as the \u201cCityhopper,\u201d because it is used for short flights within Europe, <a class=\"css-yywogo\" href=\"https:\/\/www.klm.com\/information\/travel-class-extra-options\/aircraft-types\/embraer-190\" title=\"\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">according to the airline<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<aside class=\"css-ew4tgv\" aria-label=\"companion column\"\/><\/div>\n<div>\n<div class=\"css-53u6y8\">\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">Fatal episodes like the one on Wednesday are rare on airport tarmacs, which have strict security measures in place.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">In January, a man died after climbing into a plane engine at Salt Lake City International Airport. <a class=\"css-yywogo\" href=\"https:\/\/slcpd.com\/2024\/01\/02\/slcpd-provides-update-on-death-investigation-at-salt-lake-city-international-airport\/\" title=\"\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">The police said<\/a> that the man reached the plane by passing through an emergency exit door at the airport.
