Pune Crime Branch officials are preparing to deploy artificial intelligence (AI) tools for a ‘digital reconstruction’ of a tragic car crash involving a Porsche, which resulted in the deaths of two IT professionals on May 19. A senior Pune Police<\/a> official announced that the crime branch unit will utilize AI-based software to digitally recreate the incident, providing a comprehensive view of the events leading up to the crash.<\/p>\n

A cyber expert will be tasked with designing the digital reconstruction, incorporating all relevant data such as vehicle movements, the number of people present, the speed of the Porsche, and additional critical factors. Given that the accused is a minor, he cannot be taken to the accident spot. So the reconstruction will rely heavily on forensic inputs and other indirect data sources instead of on-site re-enactment, a crime branch official told ANI. <\/p>\n

Maharashtra govt suspects two doctors<\/h2>\n

In a related development, the Maharashtra government<\/a> has suspended two doctors from Sassoon General Hospital<\/a> and a staff member, following their arrest for allegedly tampering with the blood samples of the minor involved in the crash. Additionally, Dr. Vinayak Kale, the dean of B J Medical College and Sassoon Civil Hospital<\/a>, has been placed on compulsory leave. This disciplinary action was taken based on recommendations from a three-member committee’s report on the matter.<\/p>\n

The police had arrested Dr. Ajay Taware, head of the forensic medicine department, Dr. Shrihari Halnor, a medical officer, and Atul Ghatkamble, a hospital employee, after it was discovered that the juvenile’s blood samples had been discarded and replaced with those of another individual, which showed no alcohol content. These arrests were made in response to allegations that the minor was intoxicated at the time of the crash, which occurred in Pune’s Kalyani Nagar area.<\/p>\n

The police investigation has also led to the arrest of the minor’s father and grandfather, accused of attempting to obstruct the investigation. The grandfather allegedly confined the family driver to coerce him into taking responsibility for the accident. The prosecution highlighted financial transactions as part of the sample manipulation conspiracy, initiated by the minor\u2019s father.<\/p>\n

The juvenile was initially granted bail and instructed to write an essay on road accidents by the Juvenile Justice Board. However, following a police review application and public outrage, he was sent to an observation home until June 5. The police are further investigating the extent of the conspiracy and other potential involvements in the manipulation of evidence.Additionally, representatives from Porsche conducted a technical inspection of the involved vehicle, the Porsche Taycan, at the Yerwada police station, in collaboration with the regional transport office. The car had been imported in March and temporarily registered due to pending fee payments.<\/div>\n
