At a time when many parts of northwest and eastern India are reeling under record-breaking<\/a> heatwave, the experience of snowfall<\/a> in Himachal Pradesh<\/a> is a pleasant delight for many tourists<\/a> in the hilly state. Even the plains of Himachal Pradesh recording temperatures of more than 40 degrees. Videos of snowfall in isolated places in the mid-hills of the state have gone viral. Rohtang in Manali saw fresh snowfall.<\/p>\n

According to India Meteorological Department, a western disturbance is being observed as a cyclonic circulation over northern Afghanistan and adjacent Pakistan at lower tropospheric levels, with an upper trough in the mid-tropospheric westerlies approximately along Longitude 69\u00b0E north of Latitude 32\u00b0N. Another cyclonic circulation is present over northeast Rajasthan in the lower tropospheric levels. Due to these conditions isolated to scattered light rainfall<\/a> with thunderstorms and lightning is expected over Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand over the next five days.<\/p>\n

Isolated light rainfall with thunderstorms and lightning is likely over the plains of Northwest India<\/a> from May 31 to June 3. Dust storms are anticipated over East Rajasthan from May 31 to June 3; Uttar Pradesh on May 31 and June 1; and West Rajasthan on June 1 and 2.<\/p>\n

In Himachal Pradesh, the mid and higher hills have experienced slight relief from the intense heat as light rain fell in some areas, reducing temperatures. <\/p>\n

The Meteorological Centre<\/a> in Shimla<\/a> has forecast rain at isolated places in the mid-hills from May 31 to June 2, and in seven districts\u2014Chamba, Shimla, Kullu, Kangra, Mandi, Sirmaur, and Solan\u2014from May 31 to June 5.Meanwhile, Manali recorded 10 mm of rain, followed by Keylong with 5 mm, Kalpa with 3 mm, Shimla with 2 mm, and Bhuntar and Sainj with 1 mm each on Thursday, according to the weather office.
