According to Section 5(1) of the <a data-ga-onclick=\"Inarticle articleshow link click#News#href\" href=\"https:\/\/economictimes.indiatimes.com\/topic\/ap-reorganisation-act\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">AP Reorganisation Act<\/a>, 2014, Hyderabad was designated as the common capital for both states for a period not exceeding ten years from June 2, 2014.<!--\/article_liveblog.cms?msid=107107653potime:2-->Section 5(2) of the Act stipulates that after this period, Hyderabad would become the sole capital of Telangana, and a new capital would be established for Andhra Pradesh.<\/p>\n<p>Currently, Andhra Pradesh has not yet established a permanent capital, with ongoing disputes over <a data-ga-onclick=\"Inarticle articleshow link click#News#href\" href=\"https:\/\/economictimes.indiatimes.com\/topic\/amaravati\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Amaravati<\/a> and <a data-ga-onclick=\"Inarticle articleshow link click#News#href\" href=\"https:\/\/economictimes.indiatimes.com\/topic\/visakhapatnam\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Visakhapatnam<\/a> still pending in courts. Chief Minister <a data-ga-onclick=\"Inarticle articleshow link click#News#href\" href=\"https:\/\/economictimes.indiatimes.com\/topic\/jagan-mohan-reddy\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Jagan Mohan Reddy<\/a> has indicated that if he remains in power, Visakhapatnam will serve as the administrative capital, Amaravati as the legislative seat, and <a data-ga-onclick=\"Inarticle articleshow link click#News#href\" href=\"https:\/\/economictimes.indiatimes.com\/topic\/kurnool\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Kurnool<\/a> as the judicial capital.<\/p>\n<p>For the record, Andhra Pradesh stopped using Hyderabad as its capital soon after the <a data-ga-onclick=\"Inarticle articleshow link click#News#href\" href=\"https:\/\/economictimes.indiatimes.com\/topic\/bifurcation\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">bifurcation<\/a> in 2014, retaining only a few buildings in the city.
