Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir administration issued an order directing schools across the Union territory<\/a> to ensure that the morning assembly<\/a> shall be of 20 minutes duration and begin with the national anthem<\/a> to instil a sense of pride in our national identity.<\/p>\n

The order, issued by the School Education Department<\/a> on June 12, states that the morning school assembly is a significant tradition which is not being carried out uniformly across various schools of the UT.<\/p>\n

“To maintain uniformity, it is impressed upon all the stakeholders to henceforth conduct morning assemblies across the respective schools…Morning assembly shall be of 20 minutes and begin with the national anthem as per standard protocol,” read the order issued by Arun Kumar, Principal Secretary to the J&K government.<\/p>\n

The order read that the aim of the morning assembly is to inculcate leadership qualities<\/a> in students as mandated under the National Education Policy 2020<\/a>.<\/p>\n

“Three to four students\/teachers shall compulsorily give awareness\/motivational talk on freedom fighters<\/a>, guided mindfulness exercises, discussions on mental well-being, drug menace, stress management, environmental awareness, cultural celebrations and sharing information about community service projects,” the order read.
