Srinagar: Prime Minister<\/a> Narendra Modi<\/a> is likely to visit Srinagar<\/a> on June 21<\/a> to celebrate and participate in the international Yoga Day<\/a> event on the banks of Dal Lake<\/a> here.<\/p>\n

This will be the first visit of Modi to Kashmir<\/a> after he was sworn in as the PM of the country for the third consecutive term on June 9. The officials have started preparing for the visit and as of now the program is scheduled in the lawns of the International Convention Centre on the banks of Dal Lake.<\/p>\n

“PM is likely to arrive in Srinagar on June 20 to participate in the Yoga event<\/a> on June 21 morning. We are expecting hundreds of participants and preparations have already started,” said an official here. The venue will be sanitized and a team of SPG will arrive in Srinagar this weekend. The J&K Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has directed the administration and the security grid to ensure that the event is held safely and in a secure manner. The J&K Sports council has been directed to get the athletes and sportspersons for the program.<\/p>\n

The BJP unit in Kashmir has also started preparing for the event to welcome the PM here. “It is a special occasion and honor for us in Kashmir to host Modiji, who became the PM for the third time,” said Muhammad Arif of the BJP. Modi’s last visit to Srinagar was in March this year, when he addressed an election rally in Bakhshi stadium, attended by hundreds of people including government employees.
