Titagarh Rail Systems Limited<\/a> (TRSL) on Friday announced that it has begun producing trainsets<\/a> as part of a contract with China Railway Rolling Stock Corporation<\/a> (CRRC<\/a>) for the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited<\/a>‘s (BMRCL<\/a>) Phase 2 Yellow Line<\/a> project.<\/p>\n

Production officially began on May 18, 2024, the company said adding that the first trainset is scheduled for delivery in August 2024.<\/p>\n

Notably, the 21-km Yellow Line, stretching from RV Road to Bommasandra, is a vital metro corridor aimed at improving connectivity and reduce traffic congestion in the tech hub. <\/p>\n

The contract, initially signed in December 2019 between BMRCL and CRRC Nanjing Puzhen Co Ltd, faced several delays, prompting CRRC to seek additional time for delivery. <\/p>\n

Following this, CRRC entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Titagarh Rail Systems. <\/p>\n

Under the agreement, Titagarh is responsible for producing 34 of the 36 trainsets required for the Yellow Line, with only two trainsets, comprising 12 coaches, to be manufactured in China.
