The prospect of tie-up with RLD triggered heartburn in some quarters, with speculations that former MLA Divya Maderna may quit Congress. There was no change in Jaipur city candidate announced earlier, where nomination of Sunil Sharma has kicked off a row as he is said to be allegedly involved in a Right Wing Youtube channel.
Virender Rawat, son of former CM Rawat, will contest Hardwar seat, which comprises the rural constituency that has his sister Anupama as the MLA. The seat was a bone of contention as the party was nudging Harish Rawat to contest while the latter was insistent on his son’s nomination. The veteran seems to have had his way in the final choice. Rahul Gandhi confidant Prakash Joshi is the nominee from Nainital seat.
Congress’s push to have senior leaders with greater winnability potential to contest in the Hindi belt has resulted in 75-year-old Digvijaya Singh contesting from Rajgarh. He has already started his campaign, in what would be a battle of prestige for the senior leader. Senior Congress man Kantilal Bhuria is the nominee from Ratlam ST seat.
Tanuj Punia, son of former MP and IAS-turned politician PL Punia, will contest from Barabanki reserved seat in UP, while Ajay Rai, UP Congress chief, will contest from Varanasi, the seat of PM Narendra Modi. BSP MP Danish Ali is the party nominee from Amroha, and former Union minister Pradeep Jain Aditya from Jhansi.
In TN, Congress renominated sitting MPs Vijay Vasanth from Kanniyakumari, Manickam Tagore from Virudhunagar, Karti Chidambaram from Sivaganga, MK Vishnu Prasad from Cuddalore, Jothimani from Karur, while former IAS S Senthil has been fielded from Tiruvallur. Lal Singh is the party nominee from Udhampur and Raman Bhalla from Jammu seat, in the two seats in the Jammu region.

!(function(f, b, e, v, n, t, s) {
    function
